Nice Carnival: experiencing it and getting there by chauffeur
Every February, the Nice Carnival turns the capital of the Côte d'Azur into a whirl of colour: carnival parades, monumental floats and flower battles follow one another between Place Masséna and the Promenade des Anglais. For two weeks, the city lives to the rhythm of the celebration — and the crowds. Here is how to make the most of it, without worrying about traffic or parking.
One of the world's largest carnivals
The Nice Carnival ranks among the largest carnivals in the world and one of the flagship events of the Riviera winter. Each edition is built around a theme and its King, brought to life through monumental floats and giant papier-mâché heads that parade before large crowds.
The carnival parades — especially the illuminated evening processions on Place Masséna — offer a magical spectacle, while the whole city is decked out with displays and entertainment throughout the event.
The flower battles on the Promenade des Anglais
An emblematic tradition of the carnival, the flower battles take place on the Promenade des Anglais, facing the sea. From flower-covered floats, models throw thousands of fresh blooms to the crowd — a hugely popular moment, best enjoyed from the grandstands or the edge of the route.
Between parades, the Promenade and Old Nice invite you to wander, making the carnival a fine opportunity to discover the city.
February in Nice: crowds and traffic
The carnival is held in February, over about two weeks. On parade days and at weekends, central Nice is very busy: some routes around Place Masséna and the Promenade des Anglais are closed or diverted for the processions, and parking nearby becomes scarce.
It is best to plan your journeys and allow extra time, especially for the evening parades when the crowds are at their peak.
Parking and getting around without stress
Hunting for a space near the route on a parade night is often a headache. A private chauffeur drops you as close as possible to the permitted access points and picks you up afterwards, with no circling for parking and no long walk after the show.
It is also the most relaxed way to head back late to your hotel, Cannes or Nice Airport once the celebration is over.
Getting there by private chauffeur
From Cannes, Antibes, Monaco or Nice Airport, a chauffeur takes you straight to the heart of the event and adjusts the timing to the parades and flower battles. You enjoy the carnival with a clear mind, without thinking about the route or parking.
